Cardiff (Caerdydd) is the capital and largest city of Wales. Its Life in the UK test centre serves the whole of South Wales, including Newport, Swansea, the Valleys, and the wider M4 corridor.
Public transport
Cardiff Central is the busiest station in Wales, with direct services from London Paddington (2h), Bristol, Manchester, and Birmingham. The Valleys rail network connects the South Wales mining valleys; the Cardiff Bay line links the city centre to the regeneration zone.
Booking patterns
Cardiff slots typically have 1-2 weeks of availability. Quieter than English city centres of comparable population.
Welsh language and context
You will see bilingual signs in English and Welsh throughout Cardiff and at the test centre. However, the test itself is in English only — there is no Welsh-language version of the Life in the UK test. The handbook covers Welsh devolution, the Senedd (Welsh Parliament), and Welsh cultural traditions as part of the test material.
